Upon adoption, the Bayside Heritage Strategy will be an overarching document that affirms Council’s commitment to heritage protection and guides Council’s approach in managing and protecting our significant heritage assets across the Bayside Local Government Area.
Structured around five priority areas with corresponding action items for implementation, the strategy establishes a roadmap to support the ongoing conservation of places of significance, while responding to broader development objectives.
Current Progress and Next Steps
In March 2026, Council endorsed the Draft Bayside Heritage Strategy for public exhibition and resolved that a number of heritage-related actions be progressed while the Strategy continues through its formal approval process.
The draft strategy is current progressing as part of Council’s broader heritage review. Officers are continuing work on a range of heritage initiatives, the outcomes of which will inform the finalization of the draft strategy for exhibition. This is currently anticipated to occur at the end of 2026.
Following exhibition, community feedback and submissions will be reviewed, and amendments will be made accordingly before the strategy is considered for final adoption.
