Pet registrations

Under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998, all dog and cat owners must complete two key steps to register their pets:

  1. Microchipping – required by 12 weeks of age
  2. Pet registration – required by 6 months of age
There are several ways to register your pet with the NSW Pet Registry:
  • Online via the NSW Pet Registry
  • In person at Bayside Council

Please print a paper form from the Office of Local Government and take it to one of our Council Customer Service Centres.

  • Over the phone

To register by phone, please email the completed Pet Registration form along with supporting documents to council@bayside.nsw.gov.au and include your phone number. A Customer Service Officer will contact you to process payment.

  • Through Service NSW, Animal Welfare League NSW, or the Cat Protection Society.
