Vicki Grima Productions
Working across clay, paint, collage, photography and textiles, Vicki has maintained a lifelong creative practice centred on material exploration.
Her preferred ceramic process involves pinching small pots from a single ball of clay. Moving in a spiral from the centre outward, and from the base to the rim, this meditative technique is often completed with closed eyes to sense the changing thickness of the clay walls. Her work explores clay’s tactile qualities, strength and fragility, with surfaces impressed using collected sticks, coral, shells, echidna spikes and other found tools.
Each form is designed to nestle comfortably in the hand. Fingerprints, delicate edges and textured decoration are embraced as part of the handmade character, revealing themselves gradually as the piece is held.
Vicki creates bowls, brooches and sculptural forms.
