Trained at National Institute of Dramatic Art, Buchanan brings together a wide range of materials, fabrication techniques and specialist making skills in her creative practice. With more than 18 years of experience in the prop making industry, her work reflects a high level of craftsmanship and professionalism.

Her installations and artworks are often interactive and designed to encourage participation from audiences of all ages and abilities. Focusing on accessibility and inclusion, Buchanan incorporates sensory and immersive elements such as light, movement, sound, texture, aroma and vibrant colour, guided by the principles of universal design.
