Planning Proposal and Development Application (DA) approval received.

Council will commence demolition of the existing restaurant once the carpark works are completed. Visit the Depena Reserve Carpark Upgrade page for more information regarding the carpark works. 

What's Involved:

  • Concept design has been updated in response to feedback received from Councillors, community, and internal stakeholders.
  • The design includes a restaurant and café with associated kitchen, storage, staff facilities, restaurant toilets and outdoor dining.
  • The new building will also include public amenities, including one accessible toilet and one unisex family toilet.
  • We are completing the detail design and will advertise the project for Tender to engage a suitable construction contractor.
  • An Expression of Interest for tenants of the restaurant/café will be advertised closer to the construction commencement date.

Planning Proposal Approved

In early 2025, Council amended Schedule 1 of the Bayside Local Environmental Plan 2021 by adding the 'restaurant or café' land use to enable the development.

DA Lodged

The required DA was submitted by Council in early 2025.

DA Approved

Council received the approved DA in December 2025.

Tender for Construction

Council will undertake an open tender process and engage a suitable construction contractor in late 2026.

Construct

Demolition of the existing building and construction of the new restaurant will commence once the car park works are completed.
