Join us for a talk in Mandarin with artist Yu Huang, as he shares insights into his creative process. Discover how he approaches concept and composition in both contemporary oil painting and traditional Chinese watercolour.

Bayside Community Upcycling Challenge 2024

Upcycling


Bayside Council is inviting the community to get creative by transforming old items into functional, upcycled pieces, promoting sustainability.

Participants can enter in one of four categories:
Most Creative (13 and over)
Most Practical (13 and over)
12 and Under (Individual)
12 and Under (Schools)

To enter, create your upcycled item, then submit photos and a description of the project through the online form by 12 December 2024 at 11:59pm.

Projects will be judged on creativity, functionality, and innovation. One winner from each category will receive a prize.

Christmas Lights Competition

Christmas Lights


Bayside is holding a Christmas Light Competition, calling on residents to light up their homes with dazzling light displays.

Residents who take up the challenge to light up their homes will be in the running to win a $2000 prize.

A $1000 prize will go to five winners, and an overall winner will receive an additional $1000.

Nominations close Monday 9 December.

Carols by the Sea

Carols

 

Celebrate the festive season at Bayside's annual Carols by the Sea.

Join us for a lovely evening of entertainment, with performances by local choirs and bands as well a visit from Santa.

Performers include:

Bay City Church Band and Singers
Hepi
Brighton Prep Scots College Choir
Royal Australian Navy Band
Mascot Wesley Uniting Church Choir

When: Saturday 14 December 2024, 6pm – 9pm
Where: Lady Robinsons Beach, Brighton Le Sands

This is a free event - no registration necessary.

Summer Holidays Youth Program: 6 - 24 January

There's plenty to do for young people in Bayside this summer holidays, with supervised activities happening all throughout January in our youth spaces and libraries.

There are a range of activities happening across sports, games, art, workshops and get-togethers, being held in various locations across January.

Walking Football

Regular sessions of Walking Football are now available to Bayside residents every Wednesday on the Jim Graham field at McCarthy Reserve, Rockdale.

This gentler adaptation of the game of soccer caters to older members of our community, as well as to those with limited mobility seeking a safe and enjoyable playing experience.

Time: 10am to 12noon
