Botany Golf Course 5th Green Renovation Works
As part of our ongoing turf improvement program, works will soon begin on the 5th green at Botany Golf Course to address invasive grasses and improve long-term playing quality.
A selective herbicide application will be carried out to create a clean perimeter and remove invasive grasses around the edge of the green on 21 April.
Temporary green in play from 4 May 2026
A temporary green has already been established on the 5th fairway and is expected to be ready for play by 4 May. On this day, the 5th green will be fenced off and the temporary green will come into use.
What happens next?
Once closed, the 5th green will undergo the following process:
- Surface preparation and removal of remaining unwanted grasses
- Light cultivation and levelling
- Soil amendments where required
- Reseeding with selected turf species
- Consistent irrigation and grow in management
- Careful monitoring, fertilising, and gradual return to playing standards
The estimated time frame will be 6-8 weeks. This allows the new turf optimal growing conditions and ensures the green reopens in the best possible condition. The temporary green will remain in use until the 5th green is fully established and deemed fit for play. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to improve course conditions.
