Sydney airport

Sydney Airport has informed us of two upcoming projects: the reopening of the East-west runway in mid-April; and a runway safety project in mid-June.

Reopening the east-west runway

The local and NSW economies are bouncing back, leading to an increase in flights. Sydney airport will be reopening the east-west runway from mid-April, giving the airport extra capacity to handle this increase in flight numbers.

The extra flights will lead to more noise, particularly for residents under the east-west runway flightpath. Sydney Airport must manage noise in accordance with Commonwealth regulations and legislation.

Runway safety project

The runway safety project means there will be an unavoidable (but limited) impact on some flights to and from Sydney Airport during the five-month project.
