Bin Information
Bayside Council provides waste, recycling and food and garden organics collection services to help residents dispose of household waste responsibly.
Following the correct bin guidelines helps keep services running efficiently and supports recycling and resource recovery across the community.
Bin Collections
Put your bins out before 4:30am on collection day, or the evening before.
Place bins on the kerb with enough space between them for collection vehicles to lift each bin. Make sure lids are closed and bins are clear of parked vehicles, trees and other obstacles.
Bins that are not presented correctly may not be collected.
Items placed in the wrong bin can contaminate a load and affect processing. If a bin contains incorrect items, it may not be collected until the contamination is removed.
Waste and recycling services for apartments and multi-unit properties may differ from standard residential services. Bin numbers and collection arrangements are based on the size and needs of each property.
Apartments and Units
Apartments and unit complexes receive a shared waste collection service, with bins collectively used by residents of the property. Collection arrangements vary between properties.
For apartment buildings, place bins together in a neat, accessible group on collection day, ensuring they are not stacked and do not obstruct footpaths, driveways, roads or access for collection vehicles.
The standard allocation uses 240-litre bins:
| Bin | Allocation | Collection |
| General Waste (Red-Lidded Bin) | 1 bin per 2 units | Twice a week |
| Recycling (Yellow-Lidded Bin) | 1 bin per 2 units | Weekly |
| Garden Organics (Green-Lidded Bin) | 1 bin per 5 units | Weekly |
