Message from the Mayor

Happy International Women’s Day! Council is proud to have partnered with the Bayside Women’s Shelter to host an Art By Women exhibition at the Botany Town Hall to celebrate International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March.

It is an exciting exhibition showcasing female artists while also raising money for local women and children in need of crisis accommodation in Bayside. I  encourage you to come along and see the exhibition this weekend.

The Seniors Festival commences on Monday 11 March and we will be is hosting a full program for seniors that includes; Walking Football, a Sing-a-Long with a Beatles twist, free access to our Aquatic Centres, and numerous arts and crafts activities. The full program details can be found in this edition and on our website.

I wanted to remind you that Council Community Grants Program are currently open. The Grants program is designed to help support the valuable work done by local community organisations. Last year we awarded $69,300 worth of Community Grants to 32 community organisations. Applications for this year’s program close Friday 22 March at 4pm.

Our Community Grants program has supported many worthwhile community projects including, repair workshops for women and girls, swimming lessons for children with disabilities, community garden materials and education programs, community art projects, and a music program for the hearing impaired, just to name a few.
