Message from the Mayor

I trust you all had a safe Easter. This time of year hosts a multitude of religious observances, including Easter, Ramadan, Passover and Orthodox Easter, highlighting the diversity and richness of spiritual traditions in our community.

Tomorrow, on Saturday 6 April, we hold our Ramadan at Bayside in Walz Street, Rockdale. This family-friendly night food market runs from 7pm to 11.30pm.

Ramadan at Bayside, one of the highlights of our event calendar, sees Walz Street transformed into a global food bazaar. This year there will be more than 14 halal food stalls as well as face painting and a jumping castle to keep children entertained.

It is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to share the hospitality, food, and traditions of our diverse community.

Special event clearways and road closures will be in place for the event. Walz street is just a short walk from York Street and Market Street carparks. Rockdale Station and bus stops are adjacent to Walz Street, so please consider using public transport.

We are hopeful the event can still go ahead as planned as the rain is predicted to ease. We will keep you updated by our social pages over the weekend.

April is also an exciting time for young people in Bayside as our Autumn Youth Holiday Program kicks off and we also celebrate NSW Youth Week.

Our Youth Services team have put together a range of activities for young people living in Bayside. From art workshops to zoo visits, you will find the details on our website.

If I can assist you with any Council matter, please contact my office at mayor@bayside.nsw.gov.au.
