Council has resolved to investigate the Story Dogs Program and the possibility of including it in Council library programs after a resolution at the May Council Meeting.
Story Dogs is a reading support program where story dog volunteers together with an accredited dog listen to children reading.
It is a specialist literacy program for children who have experienced trauma or have other conditions that impact their reading ability.
Bayside Library’s current programs focus on early literacy for babies and preschool children, with after school activities for primary and secondary school children, and school holiday programs.
Council will contact the team at Story Dogs Program to explore the possibility of collaborating to present the program in Council libraries.
