Bayside Council, in partnership with Moss House, a permaculture-based food garden, is hosting two free practical workshops for Plastic Free July, aimed at educating the community on how to reduce household plastic that goes into landfill.
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution which will result in less landfill, cleaner streets, oceans, and a healthier living environment.
At the Green Cleaning Workshop on Thursday 3 July at Arncliffe Youth Centre, attendees will learn to clean their homes without relying on plastic packaging or harsh chemicals. This workshop introduces natural, biodegradable ingredients and shows attendees how to make safe, effective cleaning products, helping to reduce plastic and chemical waste. As a bonus, attendees can take home a washing powder sample, and have access to a workshop summary along with easy-to-follow natural cleaning recipes.
At the Beeswax Wrap Workshop on Wednesday 9 July at Hillsdale Community Hall, attendees can find out how to swap everyday plastics with more environmentally friendly items. This hands-on workshop will explore simple, sustainable swaps, starting with a DIY beeswax wrap that attendees can take home as a reusable alternative to plastic wrap for storing food.
Workshop bookings are essential as places are limited.
