Community feedback for Bayside Council’s first ever Circus Policy is now open until Tuesday 15 July.
The policy sets out clear guidelines for how circuses can be approved and managed, when operating in the Bayside Local Government Area.
It focuses on health, safety, and responsible entertainment, including a strong commitment to animal welfare. For example, exotic animals such as elephants, lions, tigers, monkeys, and bears will not be allowed. This aligns with animal welfare legislation that discourages the use of these animals for entertainment.
Residents can contribute feedback to help shape the final policy which reflects Bayside Council's commitment to animal welfare, public safety, and ethical entertainment practices, while also supporting a diverse range of cultural and recreational activities in the area.
Online feedback can be submitted by completing the online Feedback Form, or by email at haveyoursay@bayside.nsw.gov.au, or post to HYS Circus Policy, Bayside Council, PO Box 21, Rockdale NSW 2216.
