Bayside Council is giving residents the opportunity to safely get rid of hazardous chemicals with a Household Chemical CleanOut on Saturday 29 November.
This Household Chemical CleanOut, facilitated by NSW EPA, will be held Bexley Depot 10-14 Rye Ave, Bexley from 9am-3.30pm on Saturday 29 November.
This is a free service, and residents will be able to drop off household quantities of items such as paint, oils, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, batteries, gas bottles, and fluorescent globes.
The Chemical CleanOut event will help ensure household chemicals are disposed of correctly and do not contaminate Council's regular waste and recycling services.

- Pool chemicals
- Motor fuels
- Paint and paint-related products
- Gas bottles and fire extinguishers
- Car and household batteries
- Smoke detectors
- Fluorescent globes and tubes
How to prepare and transport your items
- Keep all chemicals in their original, sealed containers whenever possible.
- Do not mix any chemicals together.
- If the container is damaged, wrap it securely in newspaper and place it in a sturdy plastic bag or container to prevent leaks.
- Label any unknown chemicals as 'unknown chemical'.
- Tape the terminals of batteries to prevent short circuits, especially if they are leaking or corroded.
- Place all items in a sealed plastic bag or sturdy container before putting them in the boot of your car, away from passengers.
- Remain in your vehicle at the drop-off site; an attendant will come to you to collect the items.
