Anti-hooning Cameras for Riverside Drive

New anti-hoon Smart CCTV cameras are expected to be installed along Riverside Drive in Sandringham and Sans Souci by the end of June following a decision at the March Council Meeting.

Bayside Council proposed the expansion of its smart CCTV network to include Riverside Drive in Sandringham and Sans Souci in response to community concerns about hooning in the area.

Council’s community engagement with residents showed overwhelming support for the cameras to be installed.
Council sought a contractor, via an open tender, for the supply and installation of a smart CCTV camera solution.

Council accepted the Tender Evaluation Panel’s recommendation, and the contract was awarded to Ultimate Security Pty Ltd.

Installation is planned to start in May 2024 and, weather permitting, is expected to be completed by June 2024.

Mayor Saravinovski said:

“I am confident Council’s smart camera technology will act as a deterrent to hooning and anti-social behaviour in the area,” Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.

“Council continues to work with NSW Police, Transport for NSW, and other government agencies to improve community safety. This includes assisting in the collection of evidence to support in the prosecution of illegal behaviour by the NSW Police.”
