Bayside Council has installed the second round of Historic Markers as part of its program to recognise local sites of historical significance.
Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall unveiled the five markers on Thursday 2 July.
The five sites that were recognised with plaques are the Botany Literacy Institute (now operating as John Brotchie Nursery School), the Botany Fire Station, landscape architect Bruce Mackenzie for his work on Sir Joseph Banks Park, the site of the former Earl Park in Arncliffe and Lydham Hall in Rockdale.
Bayside Council’s Historical Marker Program was launched February 2024 and saw five markers successfully installed at Wilson’s Farmhouse in Rockdale, Botany Public School, the Former Sir Joseph Banks Hotel, Banksmeadow, Bexley Public School, Tempe House in Wolli Creek.
Mayor Edward McDougall said:
“I am very pleased that this program, based on the recommendations from the local community, continues to recognise the people and places of historical and cultural importance to Bayside,” Mayor Edward McDougall said.
