Message from the Mayor

I hope everyone had a chance to refresh, recharge and spend some time with friends and family.

The year ahead promises to be a very exciting one.

My fellow Councillors and I are committed to making the Bayside LGA the best place to live in Sydney.  We are just so proud of our wonderful area with its natural beauty, amazing facilities, cultural diversity and of course our highly valued people.

We’ll continue to focus on the presentation of our beautiful area and at the same time we’ll work hard to improve the experience across every interaction you have with Council.

We have a long list of priorities for 2023. Some priorities include - planning for the future upgrade to our beloved Botany Pool, our new Wild Play park at SJB park, Barton Park improvements, Affordable Housing where we want to extend Council’s current 42 properties, ongoing financial sustainability, the Circular economy, more work saying No to domestic violence, continuing to build on our fairs and events. And much much more.

Council has kept working during the festive season. With a little less traffic on the roads, it’s been a good time to fix some of the damage caused by last year’s severe weather events. Some of our roads have been re-sheeted and are now a pleasure to drive on.

February will see the trial of closing Bay St, Brighton Le Sands for three weekends. The closures will occur from Friday night to Sunday night on 10th to 12th February, 17th to 19th February, and 24th to 26th February.

Please mark this weekend in your diary, we hope to see you there.

As always, please reach out to me if I can assist you, Happy New Year!
