It’s that time of the year when everyone who owns property in the Bayside Local Government Area receives an annual rates notice.
This is more than just another bill. Your rates are an investment in your community.
Council’s sound financial policies and careful management has delivered a well balanced budget for 2019/2020 while keeping your rate increases to the 2.7 percent allowed by the State Government’s IPART.
Keeping increases to the minimum is a challenge, but it is something we have achieved through fiscal discipline, best practices, innovation and forward thinking.
Bayside is a growing and thriving community and this budget takes our community forward while building on what has already been achieved.
It is a responsible budget that invests over $200 million back into the community including a $55 million capital works program.
This is balanced with investment in high quality services, environmental initiatives and infrastructure such as roads and drains.
Council’s budget for the next financial year provides stability and sustainability for everyone.
The Bayside Business Awards are on again. I hope all businesses large and small get behind these Bayside Business Awards that recognise the positive contribution local business makes to our community.
Entries in our annual garden competition close on Sunday 1 September. Our local gardeners have a huge impact on making Bayside such a beautiful area. I encourage all of you to enter.
Council’s many events, like the Spring Fair, Bayside Food & Wine, Carols in the Park, Carols by the Seas or NYE Fireworks, also provide opportunities for local sponsors, stallholders and entertainers.
