Bayside Council celebrated Book Week with an art competition based on the theme Curious Creatures, Wild Minds that attracted 2,234 entries from local schools.
This year Book Week was delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions that also prevented Council holding its usual Book Week program of activities including a ceremony in the Town Hall to acknowledge our Book Week winners.
Mayor Joe Awada announced the winners via video as COVID-19 restrictions prevented Council holding an awards ceremony to congratulate all the students for their creative entries.
“It is wonderful to see how enthusiastic our talented young people are about this competition and I am always surprised by their creative entries,” Mayor Joe Awada said.
“I would also like to thank all teachers and parents for their support and encouragement during this difficult time.”
Winning entries will be on display in Council libraries from Friday 16 October and the video announcing the winners will soon be on Council’s website.
All the Book Week books can be borrowed from Council Libraries.
