Bayside Council is extremely relieved the State Government has committed up to $82 million to support the 260 council-run childcare centres in NSW.
“This is great news for Bayside families,” Mayor Joe Awada said.
“And excellent news for Council’s Child Care Centres and Council staff who were unable to access the Commonwealth’s Jobkeeper payment scheme.
“At last night’s Council Meeting I expressed concern that the Federal Government’s package offered to private child care operators had not been extended to Council owned and operated child care centres.”
“This new State Government funding means families and children can be assured their child care services can continue to operate in these uncertain times.”
Council is currently examining the impact the NSW Government funding package will have but is positive it will be able to continue providing the services local families have come to rely upon.
Bayside Council owns and operates two long day child care centres – one in Mascot and one in Hillsdale.
