Bayside Mayor Joe Awada tabled a Mayoral Minute at last night’s Council Meeting outlining the work Council is undertaking with the St George Local Area Command to ensure the safety of Bayside’s streets.
“Last month, Council resolved to investigate high priority traffic management measures for Sanoni Avenue and to seek state government support through local MP, Steve Kamper, Member for Rockdale,” Mayor Joe Awada said.
“The funding is being sought to specifically target implementation of extensive traffic calming initiatives along identified routes throughout the foreshore area.”
“I am pleased to advise that St George Police have set up Operation Overhaul during the summer period, bringing together Police from various units to tackle hooning and anti-social behaviour specifically along the Botany Bay foreshore from Kyeemagh to Dolls Point,” Mayor Awada said.
Highway Patrol Officers have been tasked to this area to tackle hooning issues on The Grand Parade as well as anti-social behaviour in our carparks.
Council also heard feedback from a newly formed group of residents aiming to bring back a peaceful and safe environment to Bayside.
Council will continue working with Police and the community to ensure the safety of Bayside streets
