Your Councillors

Ward 3 Councillors are:

Mayor Bill Saravinovski

Email: mayor@bayside.nsw.gov.au

Bill has been employed in the banking industry for 31 years in many management roles and possesses a strong understanding of financial and budgeting matters.  Married with two young children he has lived in the Bayside Council area for more than 50 years.

He has a strong belief in our community and helping those in need. During his time on Council he built connections with community groups that have spanned decades.

He has spoken out, and will continue to speak out, against inappropriate overdevelopment, in particular the new proposals by the State Government around Bardwell Park and Turrella.

Among his key achievements was helping to deliver the Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre under budget and on time, the Rockdale Library, the substantial upgrade of the Rockdale Town Hall, record infrastructure spending, as well as improved amenities along our beachfront.

His vision for Bayside is to keep rates low for residents and to maintain a strong budget balance to ensure we are a well-regarded Council within the community, while delivering a high quality standard of service to all our ratepayers. He aspires to support our community to buy local and defend their rights against car hoons and speak out against the M5 tolls.

Greta Werner

I am a PhD candidate, mother of three, and a community organiser, leading campaigns to address issues faced by locals in the Bayside area since moving to Banksia in 2008. I am interested in affordable housing and sustainable development that enhances our environment and supports a vibrant community.

Publicly accessible green open space is increasingly important for our physical and mental health. I will work to ensure that high-quality facilities are provided across Bayside that meet the needs of all our recreational and sporting communities.

Councils have a major role to play in addressing environmental issues, and I strongly believe in local action to address climate change. I want to help improve sustainability and waste management practices in Bayside for cleaner beaches, parks, playgrounds, and public spaces. I support the promotion of cycling and walking through improving and expanding our footpath and cycleway networks, to better connect our communities and local centres.

I want to help Bayside Council reduce its carbon emissions and incentivise the uptake of renewable energy. I will advocate for better management of stormwater, trees, and landscaping to mitigate heat impacts and reduce flooding.

I am passionate about social justice and will work with council to make sure those in need are not left behind. I will also support arts and entertainment programs that foster a more peaceful and inclusive community. The cultural diversity of Bayside is one of our strengths and should be celebrated.
