Introduction - Library Services and Regular Programs

Our libraries run a range of regular groups for everyone. From Storytime, Craft and Knitting Groups, Dungeons and Dragons for teens, and English classes.

Babies, Children and Young People

We have now implemented a online booking system via Eventbrite for some programs at Rockdale and Eastgardens Libraries. 

  • Baby Rhymetime - half an hour of songs and rhymes for 0-2 year olds.
  • Toddlertime - half an hour of songs, games and stories for toddlers up to three years old.
  • Storytime - half an hour of stories, songs, craft and a movie for Pre-schoolers- 3-5 years old

We also run a range of regular activities during school term for young people - 12-18 years old. Please see Eventbrite for more information.

School Holiday Fun

A fantastic program of free children's activities for school-aged children is held during each school holiday break for primary school children. Bookings are essential via Eventbrite.

 

Dungeons & Dragons for Teens

Dungeons & Dragons is the world’s most popular fantasy role-playing game in which players are characters in an on-going fantasy story. The game is led by a volunteer Dungeon Master (DM). New and experienced players are welcome to our monthly sessions.

Bookings open 2 weeks before each session via Eventbrite

This is a free event for teenagers 13+.

Multicultural and English Classes

English Classes

English Classes are offered on a term by term basis at Rockdale Library. Bookings are essential via Eventbrite.

English classes for adults at Rockdale Library

Beginner class: Wednesdays 10am-12pm

Post beginner class: Thursdays 10am-12pm

Beginner class for Arabic speakers: Thursdays 10:30am-12:30pm

Classes run weekly and have breaks during school holidays. Online bookings essential via Eventbrite.

Living in Australia English conversation groups

For beginners: Tuesdays 4:45 pm-5:45 pm at Arncliffe Library

For advanced learners: Thursdays 9am-10am at Rockdale Library

Book Groups

Bayside Libraries holds a range of regular Book Groups across our library network. Contact your library for more information and upcoming book titles.

Rockdale Library hosts the 1st Wednesday Book Group on the first Wednesday of the month at 10:30am from February to December. This group is not currently accepting new members.

Rockdale Library hosts the Midweek Mayhem Crime Book Group on the second Wednesday of the month at 1.30pm. This is a new group and is in need of members.

Rockdale Library hosts the Rockdale Readers Book Group on the third Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm from January to November.

Mascot Library hosts the Red Herring Book Club on the first Friday of every month at 10:30am from February to December. Do you love crime? Come along and join the Red Herring Book Club for monthly discussions at Mascot Library. Light refreshments are provided.

Sans Souci Library hosts The 2nd Thursday Book Club on the second Thursday of the month at 10:30am from February to November, during school terms. Come along to talk about your current read.

Eastgardens Library hosts the Books & Biscuits Book Club every third Friday of the month from 10:30am to 11:30am from February to November, and on the second Friday in December.

Knitting and Craft Groups

Bayside Libraries holds 5 Knitting & Craft Groups groups each month.

Knit Together @ Eastgardens Library

Description: Knit Together @ Eastgardens Library is a relaxed space to meet others, learn from the experts and share your skills. It brings together both young and experienced knitters. 

When: Every first Tuesday between 10am and 12pm (starting 5 February 2019)

When: Every third Wednesday between 4pm and 5:30pm (starting 20 February 2019)

Location: Eastgardens Library.

Sans Souci Library Knitting Group

Description: BYO project or create blanket squares for charity. Learn a skill and laugh with new friends! All skill levels are welcome.

When: 1st Monday of the Month (if falls on public holiday, this moves to following Monday)

Time: 11:30am-1:30pm

Crafternoon

Description: Do you have a craft project that you never get around to finishing? The session is for skill-sharing, knitting, sewing, creating, beading, chatting and finishing that pesky unfinished project! 

When: 3rd Sunday of the Month

Time: 1pm - 4pm

Justice of the Peace

JP services are provided by volunteers and is reliant on the availability of the JP. Please call the appropriate branch library, before you come in, to confirm that the JP will be available.

Rockdale Library
