Community Histories

Our library holds a diverse community history collection and we facilitate access to historical collections including; books, records, newspapers, photos, historical footage and other items.

Specific collections are located at Mascot and Rockdale Libraries. Please contact us for more information.

Museum

Located in Mascot Library, Bayside Council runs a museum that features exhibitions that tell incredible stories about the area. Exhibitions change throughout the year to highlight our district’s rich and varied history.

Ron Rathbone Local History Prize

A prize of $5,000 is awarded annually to the author of the best piece of original research on any aspect of the history of the Bayside Council area.

Botany Historical Trust

Botany Historical Trust was established in 1994 to enable local residents to learn more about the history of their local area. 

Trust members work closely with the George Hanna Memorial Museum staff to make local history more accessible for residents and visitors.
