COVID-19 information
We are monitoring the latest outbreak in Sydney's Northern Beaches area.
Our parks and facilities are still open. Our Summer Action Plan remains at level 1: Normal Operations.
Northern Beaches outbreak
If you have visited the Northern Beaches Local Government Area or the Penrith Local Government Area in the past two weeks and have any symptoms, you should get tested as soon as possible.
Please monitor the NSW Government's COVID-19 page for news and updates.
Summer Action Plan
Our COVID-19 Summer Action Plan encourages you to enjoy our open spaces in a COVID-safe way.
You can download the Summer Action Plan here (PDF 1.67MB).
We are currently at Stage 1: Normal operations.
This means our parks and beaches are open for public use, with the following additional measures:
- public announcements to encourage physical distancing, using a range of media platforms
- education material to raise awareness within the community
- focussed media campaign
- Local Emergency Mangaement Officer to observe and request additional police presence and patrols as required
- addtional Council rangers and Council staff on high traffic days such as public holidays, school holidays and weekends where the temperature will be above 30C
- CCTV to monitor physical distancing compliance.
Summer at the Foreshore
Our Summer at the Foreshore Program outlines the steps we are taking to help reduce our environmental footprint, preserve our beautiful marine life and beaches, and maintain safe and enjoyable community spaces for residents and visitors alike.
You can download the Summer at the Foreshore Program (PDF 1.51 MB).
The steps we are taking include:
- smoke free zones at Brighton Le Sands and Dolls Point
- a waste campaign, encouraging behaviour that keeps the foreshore clean
- extra rubbish bins, litter collections and beach cleans
- new designated no-go zones for personal water craft and jet skis
- timed parking, with three hour limits to give everyone an opportunity to visit the foreshore.
Summer Rangers, Police Patrols and Foreshore Ambassadors will be on hand to encourage everyone to act responsibly.
Reporting breaches
You can report breaches of the Public Health Orders to Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online.

Beaches
All of our beaches are open for swimming and recreation.
You must adhere to the Public Health Order by staying 1.5m apart and only gathering outdoors in areas that allow 4m2 per person. Our staff and rangers will monitor the number of people on the sand to ensure we are managing beach capacity. We will monitor in person and with our CCTV.
If it gets too busy on the beach we may need to limit access or, as a last resort, temporarily close.
If we need to limit access or close the beach we will publish the details on our website, on social media and work with Transport for NSW to share information on public transport.
Parks
All of our parks are open.
No more than 30 people can gather outside in a public place
The maximum of 30 people does not apply to a group of people who are all from the same household
The Public Health Order encourages physical distancing (keeping 1.5m away from people you don’t live with)
Our staff and rangers will monitor the number of people in our parks.
